For many of us, breathing means air coming in and out of the nostrils, inflating more or less the chest and the abdomen. We never really learnt the process of breathing and how to feel what is going on inside our trunk.

But breathing is not just about gas exchanges - it deals also with subtle energies and is the royal way to relaxation (by consciously directing the Sympathetic nervous system).

Relaxation enlarges consciousness in our body, helps us to be more grounded, more centered, to bring us the feeling of "Here and Now", and the first step of meditation. The more we develop inner feeling, the more we become the conscious witness of the way we are and then are able to criticize ourselves and start change.

Whatever your field of practice may be, right respiration will always increase your abilities by taking you closer to your Self.

Welcome to all - with or without any yoga background because the teaching is simple and easily understood by everyone!

About the facilitator:
Marie is a medical certified doctor from France. She has practiced Astanga Yoga, Pranayama and Vipassana for more than 25 years, Tai Chi and Chi Kong for 14 years. She is coming from the international community of Auroville (South India) where she has lived as voluntary worker for the last 15 years, giving breathing classes and workshops.

She is currently living at Riverside community and proposes to introduce you to her work on breathing through 3 regular classes weekly, starting Monday, 6th November.

Every new participant will have to go through one introduction class which will take place every Monday and will then be able to join Wednesday's or/and Friday's classes. Regular participation in at least one weekly session is recommended.

Monday's introduction class for people interested in Marie's regular classes will be centered on:
- A short description of the breathing system and the way it works.
- Stress, relaxation and the sympathetic nervous system.
- The causes of breathing issues.
- The relationship between breath and body, emotions and mind
- The main tools you will use to work on breathing.
- Individual attention to each participant for identifying their own issues (don't worry, everyone has issues! ). The point is to get conscious of them to be able to work on them.
