We're back! Taki Rua are returning to the Wellington Museum this month to present our te reo Māori kid's play Hinepau.

Join us at either 10:30am or 12:30pm for a beautiful retelling of Gavin Bishop's classic children's tale. Our Pātaka performances are 100% free to attend and performed entirely in te reo Māori.

Hinepau doesn’t seem to fit in with her hapū. Her hair is bright red, her eyes are deep green, and all her weaving is inside out and back to front.

Though she tries to hide her differences, her tribe decide Hinepau must be a witch, and send her to live alone in the forest. But when disaster strikes the village, Hinepau may just be the only one who can save them.

Hinepau is adapted from a classic children’s book written by Gavin Bishop and first published in 1993. The 2017 production uses te reo Māori-speaking actors to present a mythical story about respecting your environment and staying true to yourself.

After successful 2005, 2008 and 2016 seasons of Hinepau, Capital E have joined forces with Taki Rua to present a te reo Māori adaptation in 2017.

The tour will perform at schools, kura and community venues nationwide over term three as part of our Te Reo Māori Season.
