Australian comedian and storyteller Jon Bennett (Pretending Things are a Cock, Fire in the Meth Lab) has landed in New Zealand and is on tour! Jon is a multi-award winning performer and a powerhouse of guts and gusto; a must-see performer of the real and the ridiculous. Joining Jon on the road is Wellington comedian and storyteller, Rhian Wood-Hill, following on from the massive success of his nation-wide tour of How I Met My Father.

For Christchurch’s ears and eyes only, Bennett and Wood-Hill will be doing a double bill of Dad drama!!!

The so-ridiculous-it-has-to-be-true How I Met My Father is back at darkroom after selling out in August and Jon finally gets to bring his hilarious My Dad’s Deaths to Christchurch.

Rhian Wood-Hill knew just a few things about his father growing up: He was a criminal, he was charming, he was good-looking, and Samoan. Being raised in Temuka, Rhian didn't have many reference points to his Samoan identity, and life experience suggests he lacks most of his father's other qualities. How I Met My Father explores one weird weekend with his brother and biological father and how he became the person he is today.*

“Rhian's unpretentiously direct approach to relating his personal tale is immediately engaging” –Theatreview.

Admirable role model not necessarily provided.

Jon Bennett’s dad always wanted his son to be an author… like Banjo Patterson. My Dad's Deaths is the story of the strange relationship between a comedian and his extremely conservative father; a man who has died… more than once. Jon and his accident-prone Dad will make you laugh until you spit your drink out.

“Armed only with self-deprecating wit and memories, Bennett reminds us that ordinary people lead extraordinary lives.” - The Sunday Mail (AUS).

“Full of heart and packed with laughter, this is how storytelling should be done.” – The Skinny (UK).

“Without a doubt, amongst the best, absolute funniest storytelling I’ve ever heard.” - Db Magazine.

It's one mother of a line-up.

Dad better be proud after My Dad's Deaths has picked up too many accolades to fit on the fridge:
- Just for Laughs Award nomination for Best Comedy (Montreal Fringe, 2013)
- Selected (Just for Laughs Zoofest, 2014)
- Producers Pick Award Winner (London Fringe, 2017)
- Best in Venue Award Winner (London Fringe, 2017)
- Best Comedy Award Winner (Victoria Fringe, 2017)
- Best Solo Show Award Nominee (New Zealand Fringe, 2017)
- Best Comedy Award Nominee (Perth Fringe World, 2015)
- Best Solo Show Award Winner (Orlando Fringe, 2015)
- Best in Venue Award Winner (Orlando Fringe, 2015)

See both of these wild cards for some debauchery on the 16th!!!
Bennett's Fire in the Meth Lab is a shocking and chaotic story of drug dealers, bikers, high-speed car chases, fights, crime, prison, vomit, exploding houses, and even cancer. Wood-Hill has some tall tales to tell about his time as a professional poker player – but he isn’t bluffing. $25 Double Trouble tix available to see both on the cheaps!!
