From 8 to 12 March, Auckland’s Civic theatre will be transformed into a city where breakdancing, trial biking, contortion and in-line skating are a way of life. This is the playground of iD.

They’ve wowed audiences all over the world and now Cirque Éloize, performing their astonishing contemporary circus, will transport Auckland crowds to a vibrant urban streetscape and universe, performed on a spectacular multi-level set backed by digital projections.

Cirque Éloize’s iD is a blend of circus arts and urban dance: b-boying and b-girling, breakdance and hip-hop. The scene is the heart of a city; a place where identity is forged and individuality is expressed.

Accompanied by an energising soundtrack by composers Jean-Phi Goncalves (Beast) and Alex McMahon, 15 performers from over 13 disciplines, hailing from many different countries, juggle, spin, skate, bike, balance, contort and fly their way through an eye-watering parade of tricks. Everything builds towards iD’s famous trampowall finale.

Positioned at the heart of a revival of circus arts, Cirque Éloize has been creating moving performances filled with magic and emotion since 1993. Drawing on the multidisciplinary talents of its performers, the company expresses its innovative nature through theatricality and humanity, and combines circus arts with music, dance and theatre in path-breaking and original ways.

With eleven original productions to its credit, Cirque Éloize has presented more than 4,000 performances at over 500 cities in more than 50 different countries. The company recently celebrated the 1000th performance of iD having reached over 1 million audience members. Cirque Éloize has taken part in numerous prestigious international festivals and its shows have seduced Broadway and the West End. Now, it’s Auckland’s turn.
