Celebrate. Share. Laugh.

Come and join us in our Celebration of International Women's Day 2017 in Papaioea Palmerston North

We will be meeting in the courtyard at Te Manawa for a midday departure. We will be parading around the streets before entering the Square at Te Marae o Hine for a shared Picnic with laughter, celebration, songs, dances, and a few speeches.

There will be Giant Puppet representations of varied ethnicities who make up our city, along with women of all ages and abilities. We will be having a shared Picnic, so bring a plate to share. Food can be dropped to Te Marae o Hine (in the Square) before the Parade.

We are excited to announce there will be a mass dance for all women attending. Moves for this will be taught at workshops leading up to the day and via social media. We invite you all to join us in this powerful moment together.

1-hour Rehearsals of Mass Dance for One Billion Rising will be held: Sunday 16th Feb at Te Manawa 1-2pm, Weds 1st March at Main PN Library 11:30 -12:30pm, and on Sunday 5th March 1-2pm at Main PNth Library

All rehearsals led by the wonderful Jennifer Moss.

We invite contributions for a collaborative Big Book, where women can leave a record of their experiences, thoughts, recipes, wishes. Paper will be provided, or things can be prepared in advance and brought along to add to it. This will be a record/snapshot of women in the region and may be displayed within the community after Women's day.

We hope you can join us. This is an Initiative of the Rangiwahia Environmental Arts Centre. It could not happen without the fabulous support of our community.

We will have a bus coming up from Wellington and Porirua, so if you'd like to join us by jumping to the bus, please get in touch to book your seat:
