Ironman Taupō-nui-a-tia 2017 is the latest addition to the Iron Māori suite of powerhouse events and is supported by the Ngati Tuwharetoa Māori Trust Board. The Lake Taupō district is currently home to a range of endurance events which means that the region is well placed to cater for every need from individuals to large groups. There are three groups that you can participate in, either as an individual or in a team of three people. There is plenty to do for the support teams as well, like stopping by the official merchandise retail store and getting your shopping fix sorted. Kaumatua will have their own dedicated super top to relax in comfort while enjoying lite, healthy refreshments.

The kaupapa of the weekend is about well-being and coming together, not only for Maori but for everyone, so come and celebrate who you are and what you would like to see in the future for all our whanau.

Below are the competitor's categories:
- Tamariki: 8:30am- distance, 5-12 years old – 100m swim & 1km run either in a team of two or as an Individual.
