Roads closed and streets come alive.” That’s the tag-line for this Sunday’s inaugural free Ahuriri Street Fest.

iWay - with the support of the Ahuriri Business Association and wider Ahuriri whanau - present the first open streets event Hawke's Bay has seen in a hundred odd years. No cars - just bikes, scooters and a few marauding Vikings (truly).

With West Quay, Custom Quay and Bridge Street closed off to vehicular traffic, the bars, cafes and pubs all coming out on the street. Where there's a ridiculous amount going on through the day including:

- Men In Black play on Bridge Street from 10:00 – 11:30am
- Ian Munro - Singer & Guitarist plays West Quay from 12:00 – 2:00pm
- The Bay Batucada Brazilian Drumming group lay down the best beats
- Basketball Jones Show, the basketball-juggling unicyclist reinvents gravity
- Live demos of tai chi, taekwondo and origami
- A full-on Vikings battle
- The Hits – Shortest Fun Run World Record (it really is a world record – just 100m!)
- A mechanical bull, bubble machine and bouncy castle (not all in one)
- A scavenger Hunt along Bridge St and West Quay – starting from Beattie & Forbes Books & Post
- Face painting, balloon twisting and the Big Bubble Man
- The Hits - Fishing Competition around the Iron Pot
- Amazing Xmas Hampers competition – buy something from a Bridge St business and go into the draw.
- Take a selfie at the street fest and post with #loveiway and win from Ahuriri Pharmacy.

Plus bikes – big bikes (Loyal Haumoana Cycling Club's Penny Farthings), little bikes, electric bikes from Flying Cat, Geoffrey's amazing bike collection and (we hope) your bikes.
