JamesRay is one of the hottest young country rock artists performing today.

JR is the real deal, a true to life hard core country boy; singer, song writer and international multi-award winning entertainer.

His musical influences are as assorted as the inspirations of his eccentric and remarkable life story. Born a traveller with an adventurous and wondering soul has allowed JamesRAy's musical influence to be inspired by diversity. This very diversity is at the pinnacle of his dynamic and passionate performances. Life's back roads, highways, train tracks and over passes has lent itself to the sometimes intimate and light-hearted to the otherwise heavy foot stomping and driving styling of JamesRay.

Southern born and Southern raised. From the hills of the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas to the dusty plains of Oklahoma and the rolling mountains of Tennessee, JR ate a staple diet of fried chicken and corn bread, catfish and hush puppies. He grew up eating, breathing and living the songs he sings. Debuting with his father at the ripe old age of eleven in the hillbilly dance halls and honky tonks of Arkansas, JR grew up surrounded by the crooning of many great country artists.

Making the move to Nashville created opportunities and the experience gave JamesRAy the best real world school of hard knocks lessons he could ever learn and inspired his song "Chasing the Dream" - 2004 Tui Award Grand finalist for Best Country Song.

JR found an additional musical influence while in Nashville when he was invited to tour the world with Bob Dylan. As fate would have it, his musical and personal life journey landed him in New Zealand. "The love of a Kiwi girl has kept JamesRay on the shores of New Zealand where he still writes and pursues a musical artist’s dream - to share his heart and soul through words and rhythm. JamesRay will be here in Katikati on January 28th for a fantastic show at the new Haiku stage. Come along and join the crowds, it's sure to be a great show.
