Fresh from a spell in Berlin, New Zealand Jazz singer Lauren Nottingham has teamed up with UK pianist/composer Mark Donlon to present Hamilton with a compelling program of Jazz spanning genres, languages and cultures. Their collaborations in 2016 saw the release of Donlon’s album Shadowbird (Fuzzymoon Records UK), with Lauren featuring alongside award-winning Australian Saxophonist Jamie Oehlers. From German Gypsy-Jazz to re-interpretations of songs by Madonna and David Bowie, and also original tunes from Shadowbird, this dynamic international collaboration is not to be missed.

About Mark Donlon:
Mark Donlon is a renowned British pianist, composer and educator who has performed all over the world and is currently based in New Zealand. He is an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM). Recent and upcoming album releases include Southern Shift, which is an album of improvised solo piano pieces and Between Moons - a duo album with New-York based, Grammy Award winning trumpeter Alex Sipiagin. 2017 will see the release of Tales From The Diaspora - a quintet album recorded in New York featuring Seamus Blake, Alex Sipiagin, Donald Edwards and Boris Kozlov. In 2016 he released Shadowbird, the debut album by his Australasian group, which features Australian saxophonist Jamie Oehlers and the emerging young New Zealand singer Lauren Nottingham.

He has performed with artists such as George Coleman, The Machito Orchestra, Maceo Parker, Dave Valentin, Dave Liebman, Kenny Wheeler and Norma Winstone, to mention but a few. He has also had a significant involvement in Afro-Cuban music and Latin Jazz, performing with leading international figures from that idiom in the USA and Europe. He moved to New Zealand in 2013 to take up the post of Senior Lecturer in Jazz at the New Zealand School of Music, where he teaches Jazz improvisation and Jazz piano along with being a busy performer and composer.

About Lauren:
Lauren Nottingham is a New Zealand singer with a multifarious background, drawing on a diverse stylistic palette of music including Jazz, Progressive Rock, Choral music and Contemporary Pop.

A Jazz graduate of the New Zealand School of Music, Lauren’s innate association with jazz lies at the root of her musicality. As well as travelling around Europe as a member of the award-winning New Zealand Youth Choir, Lauren is the lead singer of NZ Math Rock/Jazz Fusion band MultiPlayer, which released their debut album Once The Show Begins in 2016. Having recently returned from living in Berlin, she began collaborating with UK pianist/composer Mark Donlon resulting in the album Shadowbird (Fuzzymoon Records UK).
