Two lives – one American and one Australian – linked by a passion for finding and surfing waves that form out in the deep ocean and gather strength as they rush towards land.

Two lives – one American and one Australian – linked by a passion for finding and surfing waves that form out in the deep ocean and gather strength as they rush towards land. William Finnegan, a staff writer for the New Yorker, and long-time surfing writer Phil Jarratt will explore what drives them to pursue waves, sometimes at great personal cost, and why surfing matters to them.

Finnegan won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Autobiography for Barbarian Days (as well as 2017 awards in Spain and France), while Jarratt has this year published Life of Brine, his memoir that opens with a near-death experience while surfing.
