Making a human of yourself: Accessing vulnerability, connectedness & authenticity

Accessing vulnerability isn't easy for many. Most of the time we like to control how we present ourselves to people. We persuade ourselves not to make a fool and so instead we shut down a truthful connection that could have become precious for us.

Via some fun theatre, clowning and improv exercises this workshop will help you be more at ease with the ‘you’ that is already enough; to be okay with failing because we all fail and in ‘failing’ we are honest. In being vulnerable we allow others to connect with a moment, to access humour and recognition, and to feel human.

Please note that a safe and comfortable space will be created for everyone; not to say that we will be a weeping mess (!), but should you be nervous, know that an attitude of support, honour and respect will be held. Let’s see what awesomeness lies within you.

This workshop is for performers and non-performers.

Linda Calgaro recently moved to Nelson from Sydney, Australia. She’s an actor, improviser and musician who brings with her 20 years experience in performing, producing and directing. Her speciality is in creating improvised theatre, creating music projects (choirs & voice work) and eating biscuits. She thrives on getting the best and unexpected out of people and pushing the boundaries to creativity to inspire different, interesting, fun work.

Linda has studied Improv acting in Australia and overseas as well as having studied Theatre and Film at UNSW (BA Hons) and acting at The Actor’s Centre (Sydney) and Australian College of Theatre & Television.

She’s been invited to teach and perform around Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the USA and is currently the Artistic Director of Nelson’s own Off the Cuff Improv theatre ensemble.

Folks may remember her from The Nelson Fringe 2015 & 2016 where she taught workshops and brought her own show to the festival, The Circle of Sound and Story.
