The Māori kite is known as manu tukutuku or manu aute. Kites were flown for many reasons in Māori history including for recreational purposes but also as a means of communications.

Students will hear stories about manu tukutuku, manu aute and other types of kites and have the opportunity to see one being made in front of them.

Workshops run from 9:30am to 2:30pm each day at 9:45am, 10:45am, 12:15pm & 1:15pm. Matariki marquee at the Mount Beachside Holiday Park, 1 Adams Ave, Mount Maunganui, Tauranga. Gold coin donation.
