Matt Langley is featured artist is this, the second of our invitational concerts showcasing the best of contemporary song.

These days Matt is taking a break from touring. He can often be spotted walking around the Otago Peninsula, perhaps looking a little lost but in actual fact scrawling ideas and lyrics in his notebook.

So we thought it was a good time to ask him to look back on those twenty years as a song-smith and pick out some of his highlights.

Matt Langley: History

A self-styled acoustic troubadour Matt has forged a solid reputation as a sophisticated songwriter and an engaging performer.

Over the last 20 years Matt has worked at his craft. He has busked with the George Street Patsys and recorded and toured with Riki Gooch from Trinity Roots. Most recently he has collaborated on a suite of songs with renowned New Zealand poet Brian Turner called ‘Ladders of Rain’.

He has attracted awards and praise for his songs and his performances:
"It is one of life’s simple pleasures to hear a voice like this." - Grant Smithies, Sunday Star Times

"This is the music we should be showcasing." - Simon Sweetman, Dominion Post.

The concert also features Erin Morton, singer and songwriter from that celebrated and popular trio, Delgirl. Erin will share the stage and tag team songs with emerging songwriter Maura Turner
