Should we be wary of genetic technology and how can it help in a modern New Zealand? Dr William Rolleston, Production Director for South Pacific Sera Ltd will be our guest speaker for our final 2017 event.

Wednesday 8th November at 6.45pm we will be at the Methven Resort, 51 Main St, Methven for our final event for 2017.  As usual we will serve a complimenary drink and nibbles on arrival for our networking session before Dr Rolleston begins.

Dr William Rolleston is the immediate past President of Federated Farmers and of the World Farmers Organisation.
William and his brother, John, own and operate Blue Cliffs Station – a sheep and beef property in the South Canterbury hills.  In 1988 they diversified the property to set up South Pacific Sera which processes and exports animal derived biologicals to, and contract manufactures for, the research, diagnostic and pharmaceutical markets.

William has held leadership, governance and strategic advisory roles related to science including as chairman of the Government’s Innovation Board and as a member of its Science Board.  He was founding chairman of New Zealand’s biotechnology industry organisation and the Life Sciences Network.

William obtained his medical degree from Otago University in 1984.  In 2009 he was awarded the Distinguished Biotechnologist of the Year award for services to the biotechnology industry.
