Mindfulness for Change Hui are a space to embody mindful community, to support each other in creating change in the world. We all want to see some sort of change in the world, whether that's in our family, community, organisation, or on a broader societal level. It's important to start with ourselves, but we can't stop there.

No man (or woman, or person) is an island. We need other people - for support, for connections, for skills and perspectives we don't have, and to share resources with. That's what the hui exist for - to provide a space for us to live in the community, connect with and support each other in our lives and in our work in the world, whatever that is.

Spring 2017 Hui Theme: Creating Together

Our last hui was a chance to welcome new people into the community, embody the change we want to see in the world through mindful presence and explore how to facilitate more mindful change in our relationships, communities, organizations, and society as a whole.

This hui is all of that and more. We will have the chance to deepen connections and make new ones. We will explore how to sense and respond on the individual, interpersonal and collective levels, using heads, hearts, and hands to create together.

Together we'll create and facilitate spaces to:
- Connect and practice whakawhanaungatanga (meaning "the building of family/community")
- Practice mindfulness together, personally and interpersonally - 'sensing and responding'
- Create together to meet the needs of the community
- Have show-and-tell sessions to hear from community members about how they're creating change in the world
- Spend time in the beautiful natural surrounds of Otaki Gorge
- And enjoy delicious lovingly prepared locally sourced organic food.

At previous hui, we've had mindfulness and yoga teachers, doctors, lawyers, teachers, psychologists, counsellors, web developers, artists, community builders, permaculture experts, shamans, entrepreneurs, students, activists, academics, and a diverse mix of genders and ages.

We're wanting to invite in more Māori and forge a partnership that benefits all that inhabit the beautiful land of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Mindfulness for Change:
In 2016, we hosted two gatherings around the question of "what would happen if we put mindfulness and systemic change together in a room?" From this curiosity a community was born. Fast forward to 2017 and we're an open, growing community ready to engage with the world and create and support projects that foster compassionate systemic change.

If you're into empathy, compassion, authentic connection and spaces where we can practice bringing more of that into the world, Mindfulness for Change is for you. Whatever your background, whatever skills and gifts you bring, whether you're interested in cultivating stillness and a sense of centred presence or more dynamic collaborative action in the world, or a mix of both - people of all stripes are welcome here, and we can all help to make a difference.
