The countdown is on for one of Auckland’s ritziest, glitziest and most dazzling annual events.

On Saturday September 16, the Auckland Town Hall will be transformed into a Bollywood wonderland as 22 gorgeous Kiwi-Indian contestants go for gold, hoping to be crowned MissIndiaNZ 2017. As contestants battle it out in a wide variety of categories, spectators will be treated to an extravaganza of fashion, music and dance that blends the very best of Indian and New Zealand cultures.

For event producer Dharmesh Parikh, of Rhythm House, there is nothing else quite like it.

“For those who love fanfare and razzle-dazzle this event is unmissable. It’s the ultimate celebration of the Kiwi-Indian culture, showcasing a unique and diverse mix of ethnic backgrounds, talents, and passions.”

There’s no debating the popularity of the MissIndiaNZ event. Every year it’s a sell-out show, and with this year promising to be the most spectacular one yet, those who haven’t got tickets had better get in quick.

“This year we’re upping the glamour factor, by bringing back haute couture and designer ethnic wear, thanks to House of SVARN. We’re also using the latest technology to create the most elaborate visuals yet to be seen in Miss IndiaNZ’s 15-year history. It’s going to be an incredible and magical night.”

The contestants have spent many months honing their skills in preparation for the show, which will see them compete in everything from Q and A’s, to catwalks, to traditional dance. Each participant will be given a chance to shine, plus the opportunity to lay claim to a string of different titles, such as Miss Talent, Miss Potential Model – and the coveted Miss Popular title, earned via eight weeks of public voting which finishes on September 15.

MC’s for the evening will be radio jockey and Bollywood personality Hemant Parikh, former Miss IndiaNZ contestant and 2010 Miss India Wellington winner Jacinta Lal, and model Melanie Ramsden. The line-up of judges includes Colin Mathura-Jeffree, ATEED’s Eric Ngan, Producer and CEO of Notable Pictures Julia Parnell, choreographer and producer Akshita Patel Nama and HOD for Rangitoto College’s textile department, Lesley Pearce.

Produced by specialist event company Rhythm House, Miss IndiaNZ runs from 7.30 to 11pm at the Auckland Town Hall on Saturday 16th September.
