Iota Piano Quintet includes NZSO violinists Rebecca Struthers and Elizabeth Patchett, NZSO violist Lyndsay Mountfort, NZSO cellist Eleanor Carter and pianist Kathryn Mosley - Eleanor's sister, who resides in England.

Kathryn's recently completed PhD included in-depth research into Beethoven's concerti, so the chance to hear her play the Czerny arrangement of the second piano concerto should prove very interesting. The idea of coupling it with the Schumann quintet is nostalgic for Kathryn, Eleanor and Elizabeth as this was a piece they played many times together whilst studying at Auckland University.

Paekakariki's Mulled Wine Concert Series has been presenting classical music events on the Kapiti Coast for over ten years now and with the organiser's dedication to high-quality music, has become established as a significant part of the Kapiti music scene. The Paekakariki Memorial Hall is loved by musicians and audiences alike for its beach-front location, stunning views and easy parking.

The hall is also favoured because of its excellent acoustic qualities which allow the music of the great classical composers to be heard with clarity and distinction. Organiser Mary Gow also likes to create the atmosphere for which chamber music was written by inviting local artists to decorate the walls and showcase their artworks. Audiences appreciate the very moderate costs of the events, the friendly intimacy and the close contact with the performers encouraged by the venue.

Iota performs music by Czerny - his arrangement of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 2, Beethoven's String Trio in D, Op.9 No. 2 and Schumann - Piano Quintet in E flat, Op. 44. For Kapiti music-lovers, this is an opportunity not to be missed! Artworks will be showcased by Paekakariki's "star" artist, Sir Jon Trimmer.
