Learn about the traditional Aotearoa New Year, what it means to Māori and some of the customary activities of this time. While most people around the country celebrate Matariki, Puanga is the star that Whanganui iwi look towards to signal the New Year.

Whanganui Regional Museum’s Kaitiaki Taonga Māori and Kaiwhakaako Māori, Āwhina Twomey, will illuminate this topic, answer your questions and share ideas on how you can celebrate Puanga within your whānau and hāpori (communities).

Supper provided, koha appreciated. No bookings required. For more information please ring 06 349 1110 or email riahk@wrm.org.nz.
