An exciting new play My Dad’s Boy by award-winning twentysomething playwright Finnius Teppett.

Peter used to play for Otago, and in 1985 despite a loss to the Lions in the House of Pain, he came close to joining David Kirk’s All Blacks. Honest! Life hasn’t really been as simple since. His son is a chip off the old block in a 2017 kind of way. While he’s writing this play about his Dad, he finds out his girlfriend is pregnant. Men, their myths, and realities fuel this richly honest Kiwi comedy.

Directed by Dunedin-born and raised Anya Tate-Manning. Her first theatre experience was at Logan Park High School before completing undergraduate studies at Allen Hall Theatre at the University of Otago, with further study at Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School and completing her MA in Scriptwriting at the Institute of Modern Letters. Her performance work ranges from The Devil’s Half Acre (Dunedin Arts Festival 2016) and the acclaimed Hudson & Halls Live (coming to Fortune in December).

We welcome back to the Fortune stage Greg Johnson, a veteran of theatre, television, and film. Greg has appeared in numerous television productions including Shortland Street, Outrageous Fortune, Go Girls and Dirty Laundry. Fortune is also welcoming two local hotshots to the stage next month, Alex Wilson and Abby Howells. Alex plays the titular Boy while Abby will be showing off her versatility as she brings a whole host of characters to life, from Helen Clark to Granddad.
