The Nelson Jazz Club Big Band – styled after the great bands of the Forties and Fifties - is a traditional stage band that plays syncopated written arrangements with improvised interludes. Most people will be familiar with Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Count Basie and Duke Ellington, but Big Bands have been popular since the dawn of jazz and show no sign of losing their appeal, with new arrangements of contemporary music appearing all the time.

Youth Collective:
The Nelson Youth Jazz Collective presents some swinging jazz including such classics as ‘Summertime’, ‘Bags Groove’, ‘It Doesn’t Mean a Thing’ and ‘Green Onions’.

(Warning: includes vocal numbers).

The Nelson Youth Jazz Collective is made up of musicians from the age of 12 to 19 years old. They come from around Nelson and Richmond each Sunday afternoon to rehearse at the Honest Lawyer in Monaco, Nelson. It is run with donations and grants through the local Nelson Jazz Club.

They perform at various public events around the Nelson area and are looking forward to playing in the 2017 Nelson Jazz Festival.
