‘Olveston’ was the family home of Dunedin businessman and philanthropist David Theomin.

A passionate collector, the house was lavishly and extensively furnished during the late 1800s and early 1900s, with fine art, furniture, domestic wares and objects purchased from around the world.

Gifted to the city of Dunedin in 1966 by David's daughter Dorothy, Olveston is a 'time capsule' as little has changed inside the house since it was occupied as a family home between 1906 to 1966.

Olveston is an authentic and original historic home depicting the life of a wealthy Jewish merchant family in the early twentieth century. Olveston is sent in 1-acre of manicured gardens, listed by the NZ Gardens Trust as 'A Garden of National Significance'.

Car parking is available around Olveston.

Olveston is open to the public every day (except Christmas Day) by guided tour only. 1-hour guided tours start at 9:30am, 10:45am, 12 noon, 1:30pm, 2:45pm & 4pm.
