Open Arts Day 2017: Welcome to our Neighbourhood

Corban Estate Arts Centre's annual Open Arts Day provides the perfect opportunity to see behind the scenes at this creative hub in West Auckland. The highlights of the day include more than twenty onsite artists who will open their studios to the public, alongside exhibitions, free hands-on workshops, heritage and studio tours, artists' talks and a graffiti art battle!

Highlights of the day include:
- Open studios by more than twenty onsite artists
- Exhibitions including a pop-up by onsite artists, staff and tutors as well as The Waitakere Central Community Arts Council's 2017 Waitakere Arts Exhibition
- Live music and performances
- Free hands-on workshops
- Artist talks, heritage and studio tours
- A graffiti art display

Listen to new music by the young stars that have been working with David Atai and Marcus Powell at Crescendo Trust of Aotearoa, including Live Poets, Santos, Angels of Troy, Iris Guevarra, Mahaani Maiava, Oath to Azrael, Cameron Mason and Kevin Gao. See performances by Red Leap, Mixit, the Kweenz, Miss beMe and DJ Exile, as well as Busola Martins and band.

Spend some time with the °TEMP installations and activities, hear Charlotte Graham and A.D. Schierning talk about their exhibitions in the Homestead Galleries, or get a taste of our education programmes by dropping by some of our hands-on workshops (for adults and children!)

Whether you’re currently participating in arts activities at the centre or have never visited us before, come along and be intrigued, inspired and involved in all the creative stuff happening in our neighbourhood. Make a day of it; relax over a light lunch, some sweet treats and a great coffee, in our Coffee Studio café or at the Verandah Bar.

Or bring a picnic and relax in the sprawling grounds of Corban Estate. There’s so much happening in one place, and Open Arts Day is the perfect place to spend a rewarding, family-friendly Saturday at the end of summer.
