Open Studio - Guided Development is a continuous cast glass workshop where course participants will learn the art of lost wax casting over the period of 8 sessions. Creative work will be discussed and intentions of each person. Wax and studio time included in two hours.

Open studio translates to 800 Degrees Glass offering an open studio environment which is fully equipped for the cast glass process. It is my own working studio environment, as well as the facility for conducting weekend workshops, which I have been doing for over the past two years, as part of my objective of bringing glass awareness to the region of Franklin.

The open studio days and times are as follows:
Tuesday 10am until 12 noon 7pm until 9pm
Wednesday10am until 12 noon 7 pm until 9pm

The fee for this experience is $300.00 per person for eight two hour sessions (so that is 16 hours of guided development). (800 Degree is not GST registered). This fee is payable upon registration and can be paid 50% before commencement and the balance paid after the first session you attend. Direct credit via internet banking is preferred but cash is also accepted. A receipt will be provided to you upon payment.

You will be guided through making wax models or clay models (your choice) after being taught how to use wax and clay to make forms, sculptures, 2D or 3D.

Normally, the instruction and demonstrations take around about one hour and from then, course participants will start and continue to make their work, change it, work on it over the next eight sessions until it is resolved through one on one guidance. You may be working with others in the studio, but I will always be there to assist you to develop your creativity and help you with your intentions. The open studio will include the use of wax for modelling (but is still the property of 800 Degrees Glass).

The following weeks or sessions you will continue to develop your work or idea and resolve any technical issues which may come up and we will resolve those together with technical advice and considerations when casting with lead crystal. A great opportunity to work in an open studio environment with others, although studio space is limited at each session to 8 participants.

Fees include studio time, guided development. Fees will apply for investment use, glass and kiln firing. Please email me regarding any further information. Eight two-hour sessions over 8 sessions or eight weeks at two hours per day on a Tuesday or Wednesday.
