We are excited to announce the return of Ōpōtiki’s Annual Lantern Festival! 7-piece band Tomorrow People, with their own brand of “sunshine reggae”, will be performing live along with Annie Crummer, Jackie Clarke and Ben Lummis (2014 New Zealand Idol Winner) and Auckland based trio, Too Many Chiefs.

Crowd favourites, Daughters of Ally will be returning this summer along with great local talents Made Alive and Waioeka Kapa Haka.

Now into its 5th year, the festival has fast become a must do kiwi summer event. It was listed in the "Top 5 things to do this summer" in the New Zealand Weekend Herald.
This awesome festival is jammed packed with hot New Zealand Musical Talent and oozes a great kicked back family friendly vibe.

Tomorrow People the 7 piece band shot to fame in 2012 with the release of their album ‘One’ which hit #1 on the official NZ music charts. The band has become a stronghold in the NZ music scene with a sold-out National Tour in 2016. They have also made waves internationally with two #1 hits in Hawaii. Their infectious feel good ‘sunshine reggae’ is sure to please.

Annie Crummer is one of New Zealand’s most iconic and treasured talents with an impressive career in the music industry. Her debut album ‘Language’ gained platinum status with her second album ‘Seventh Wave’ reaching gold status. Annie received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Pacific Music Awards in 2011. She has been on major support tours with Sir Paul McCartney, K.D Lang, Ray Charles, Sting and Michael Jackson. Her talents extend to the theatre where Annie played lead role as ‘Killer Queen’ in the Queen Broadway musical ‘We Will Rock You’- directed by Ben Elton, hugely successful in Japan, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. She is truly the voice of one in a billion.

Ben Lummis is a New Zealand R&B/Pop recording artist who rose to musical fame as the winner of the first season of New Zealand Idol in 2004. At the beginning of 2004 he was a teacher's aide at Arohanui Special School, and in the space of just five months, he became, and still is, one of New Zealand's most recognised musical celebrities.
His debut single 'They Can't Take That Away' was released. It debuted in the National Singles Chart at #1 where it remained for seven weeks, selling over 4 x platinum in the process.
Ben has big plans for 2017, including the release of a new album which will see him reclaim his spot at the top of the NZ music industry. It will all start here at the Opotiki Lantern Festival.

Jackie Clarke is the original Jack of all trades and will be showing off all her talents as MC and performer at the Ōpōtiki Lantern Festival. She currently sings with the Lady Killers and is a bona fide powerhouse diva with a wicked sense of humour.

Two Many Chiefs is a Auckland based trio. With a combine performance time of 30+ years Dillon, Lou’ana and Cam bring a unique and dynamic performance to the table. They have a wide range of material ranging from jazz standards to modern top 40. They’ll have you singing along to songs you know or mingling to timeless classics.

The Event will take place at Princess Street Reserve, Opotiki. All ages are welcome to attend this family friendly event.
