The 100% Pure New Zealand Ora - Garden of Wellbeing, winner of a gold medal at the Chelsea Flower Show, 2004 is a special ‘living’ exhibit on permanent display at Taupo Museum.

Ora - Story of a Garden is a display curated by the Friends of the Taupo Museum telling the history of the garden including its initial concept, it's gold medal win at Chelsea and visit from the Queen. The display also shares some of the many wonderful stories from the design team and Museum staff over the years.

Ora was officially opened at Taupo Museum during the spring of 2007 to allow this extraordinary garden to be seen in its homeland. Its native flora and steamy geothermal areas are typical of what can be found naturally in the central North Island. The garden has been made a “Garden of National Significance’ by the NZ Gardens Trust.

The Friends of the Taupo Museum were instrumental in bringing the garden to Taupo with support from the local community and the Taupo District Council.
