Fantastic coastal views, the historic military sites of Godley Head, a visit to a little-known penguin colony, and a newly upgraded walking track combine for a superb circular walk. Expert researchers will meet you on the track above the white-flippered penguin colony in Harris Bay and show you some of the penguins, with their half to full-grown chicks. Then return to the start on DOC’s brand new loop track. Be prepared for a bit of a scramble down to the penguin colony and a short climb on the way back.

Duration: 4-5 hours

Walk Difficulty: Walk - Partly formed track, some up and down

Walk length: 7kms

Wear sturdy walking shoes. Bring drink bottle, food, layered clothing, sunhat and waterproof jacket.
