Over 100 players from throughout the country will be competing in the Petanque New Zealand National Club Championship. Teams of six from each Club will make up two triples teams and play five games each day.

The field includes the defending champion Bay View (Napier) and five-time winners Herne Bay (Auckland).

Petanque originated in France early in the twentieth century and is now played in over 100 countries throughout the world. In NZ, there are some 50 clubs affiliated to the national body.

Come along and watch some great pétanque being played and enjoy the festive atmosphere in the beautiful surroundings of the Government Gardens.
