This month, Play On presents Anzac Eve - a fresh and contemporary take on a significant time in our nation’s history. It is a brand new play about a group of Kiwis and Aussies who happen upon each other the night before dawn commemorations at Gallipoli.

Play On is a play reading series of New Zealand work presented by local performers. There is no cost to attend the event, a koha donation is optional. Seating is limited so it’s best to get there early to get a good spot (and happy hour runs from 5pm – 7pm, just sayin’).

About the play:
National pride and personal issues stir up strong feelings as tempers flare, romance sparks and ghosts are uncovered. Each character sees historical events through their own lens, but are they really there to solemnly commemorate the occasion or to party until the early hours?

Written by award-winning playwright Dave Armstrong (Niu Sila, Le Sud, The Motor Camp), Anzac Eve is entertaining and honest, taking an unflinching look at the modern day ANZAC experience.

Ready by Jeremy Donnell, Glenys Courney-Strachan, Liam Dixon and Simone Walker.
Running time approx. 80 minutes

Presented by: Big Picture Minor Deets by arrangement with Playmarket.

Note: The play is called Anzac Eve but the performance takes place on 26 April (the day after Anzac Day) - don’t say we didn’t spell it out for ya!
