Poetry Cafe is one of our 2017 Writing Weekend courses.
With Vana Manadiadis.

Come and spend a day reading, writing and talking about poetry in this year's Poetry Cafe.

This workshop will focus on fun, creativity, play, writing, and great discussion. Participants will firstly look at a number of poems, poetic language, style, and sound; and then, at some of the pathways into writing poetry. Using exercises as starting off points, participants will write their own poems and have the opportunity to share, perform, and be inspired by each other's reflections, imaginations, and innovations.

Attendees are also invited to come to our opening address at 9am on Saturday 19 August. Fire up the day with an early morning talk by Books Editor Susanna Andrew. Get a sense of the writing communities at large, the lay of the literary landscape and where and how to stay tuned into a writing life and the lives of others. Have a cuppa, listen to Susanna and meet others.

Susanna Andrew is Metro Books Editor and co-editor with Jolisa Gracewood of the AUP annual anthology Tell You What: Great New Zealand Nonfiction.

Our mission is to provide quality affordable and accessible lifelong learning opportunities for our community.
