Our annual poetry competition, in celebration of National Poetry Day, has begun. One winner, one prize, announced on 25 August 2017 on blog/facebook.

Please read the rules:
- Open to all New Zealand residents aged 18 and over (employees of Tararua District Council are not eligible to enter)

- The winner will be announced on ‘Phantom Billstickers’ National Poetry Day Friday 25th August 2017, on this blog and our Facebook page.

- All entries must be typed, in English, and can be emailed to library@tararuadc.govt.nz or handed in at any branch of Tararua District Library. If emailed, they can be in the body of the email or via Microsoft Word or Publisher attachment.

- A maximum of two entries per person will be accepted; at least one poem per person will be published online, as chosen by us. Published poems will not be withdrawn from publication.

- All poems to be an original creation of the person submitting it, and previously unpublished.

- Entries to be accompanied by the name, address and contact details of the submitter.

- No late entries will be accepted. Entries close 5pm 20 August 2017.

- Prize awarded to the best poem. Judged by author Muriel Cowan; the decision is final.

PS, if you search poems or poetry in our blog search bar, you’ll find the wonderful entries from previous years to get your creative juices flowing.
