As a woman, getting older has many challenges.
There are hormonal changes, which ultimately lead to the onset of menopause, and often changes in lifestyle either because children have left the family home or work and relationship dynamics have changed.
In western society, there are often many assumptions, almost stigmas, about what it means to be a woman getting older. These assumptions relate to health and well-being, sexuality, relationships and what is expected of the woman who are getting older.
In this workshop, we’ll be covering some broad themes to help on the journey.
- Use tools from yoga and aromatherapy to get your Midlife Goddess on.
- Get in touch with your subtle energy centres (chakras) using essential oils, yoga postures, meditation, and music.
- Explore how to feel ageless and what that means to us.
Diane Davies is a Massage Therapist, Aromatherapist and Yoga Teacher (200hrs RYT).
Why am I doing this Workshop?
Before becoming a mother and self-employed body worker, I worked as a sexuality and relationship educator for FPA (Family Planning Association) where I became very accustomed to talking about sex in public, mostly in front of an adolescent audience.
Although my life and career path changed somewhat, my interest in women's health has never wavered. I am passionate about the empowerment of people to take charge of their own health and well-being and have been heavily influenced by the writings of Dr. Christine Northrup (among others) who urge us not to buy into the myths posing as fact around getting older; good health is our natural state from birth to death.
Background on the Workshop:
Dr. Christine Northrup describes menopause as being the "gateway to the second half of life...A time to clean up any old, unhealthy patterns from the past.". This workshop looks at how we can use tools from yoga and aromatherapy to support this. There will be a mixture of asana practice, chakra balancing, meditation, and discussion. All levels of yoga practice are welcome.
This workshop is restricted to females only.
