Raw Collective

With Support From:
Makeshift Movements, Big Izzy Stone & Mufassa.

Need a good groove to some big fat bassy beats? Dance those funking feet down to Totara Street for a night of original live Hip-Hop, Dub and Drum n Bass.

Headlining the night will be Wellington based ten piece Jazz funk Hip-Hop heavyweights Raw Collective with support from local dub and Hip-Hop groups Makeshift Movements, Big Izzy Stone and DJ Mufasa.

After forming in early-2014 Raw Collective spent the year travelling around NZ honing their live show and releasing music. First was their debut Wise Horizons (6-track EP), and then the single Coins (Memories) with accompanying music video which gained no. 1 on RadioActive.fm for 2015. 2016 has seen the band putting the finishing touches on their debut album, and the release of their latest single ‘Don’t Leave Your Luck’ a driving hip-hop jam to be followed by the uptempo ‘Smash the Grips’ an inquisitive look at some of the band’s motivations.

Makeshift Movements is an eight-piece Roots/Dub/D&B/Hip-hop group based in Tauranga. They draw on a wide range of influences and assemble for weekly collaborations high in the Whakamarama hills, away from the stresses and distractions of the city.

After a couple of years working with samples and crafting beats in a makeshift home studio, they released their debut self-titled EP 'Makeshift Movements'.

The combination of eight unique and talented individuals from varied musical backgrounds makes for a lively performance with infectious grooves that are sure to get the feet moving.

Big Izzy Stone is a newly formed three-piece reggae soul group from the bay of plenty ready to bring the skank and get the heads nodding.

As at home on the stage as he is on the dance floor, your boy Mufasa knows how to celebrate.
He'll be slamming some phat funkaliscious sounds that are sure to get the booties shaking.
