Rescued by Robot day is all about challenging your robot to a series of confidence courses.

The challenges will be suitable for all levels of robots - from the most mindless hacked together mobile heaps of junk, through to commercial grade monsters. If it can move and you can program it - you’re good to go!

The courses and tracks will include many potential problems to get through. Fire, unstable rubble, tunnels, cliffs and drop-offs. Can your robot get a message through? Can it get in and back out again? Yes, there will be an element of destruction, especially if it’s a Zombie Bot made in the prior weekend workshop. We will, however, be looking after those more expensive Robots!.

The day is about humour, creativity, cool technology, drama and failure just as much as it is about success, winning and technical skill. The day is about pushing your boundaries and meeting other interesting northland people.

Oh yes, there will be some good prizes for success, tragic failures as well as for well decorated robotic creatures.

One rule: No Remote Control - your robot babies need to try and do it themselves.

Target participants: Non-dead humans. Younger humanoid variants with parental support.

Cost: $15 for participants and donation from any emotional support crew also attending.
This event is part of the 2017 National TechWeek series.
