This three-day winter holiday workshop is for young people, aged 8 -14, wanting to learn about animation. Environmental advocate, Christine Rose will talk about kauri dieback and the kinds of messages we need to share to help conserve our beautiful giants. We will turn the messages into short poems, record them on video, and design colourful 2D animations to bring them to life.

Participants will learn creative writing, art and performance skills, and how to use cameras and animation software.

The finished films, along with the music videos, will be screened at Flicks Cinema and The Arataki Centre. They will also be published online for use by conservation teachers. A download link to the finished films will be sent to participants.

Robin Kewell, Britta Pollmuller and Martin Sercombe will support the animation work.

Please bring a packed lunch to each session.
