Shaky Places (music: Felicia Edgecombe; poetry editor: Rachel McAlpine) is song cycle of real and close New Zealand experiences drawn from poems by some of Aotearoa's most popular poets:

Sam Hunt, Riemke Ensing, Dinah Hawken, Bill Manhire, Brian Turner, Bub Bridger, Robert Sullivan, Jenny Bornholdt, Jeffrey Paparoa Holman, Marewa Glover, Lauris Edmond, Rachel McAlpine and Gregory O’Brien.

Here amongst the poems are tuatara, pohutukawa, puzzles of identity, the Mt Erebus tragedy, the Christchurch earthquakes and many living landscapes. The music merges with the poems at a deep level and reveal our complex connections with our world at once enchanting, dangerous and precarious.

“It’s a calm day on earth, almost silent.
Only the birds are singing.

Why don’t people go down to the harbour,
stand at the end of the earth’s long breath
and listen?”
