Provided by Eastern Central Community Trust, in conjunction with Tararua District Library, children and caregivers are warmly invited to attend a puppet performance. String Bean Puppets have been to our area before, and amazed everyone with their intricate puppetry skills.

String Bean Puppets is a Wellington puppet company dedicated to sharing the wonder and magic of puppetry. Puppeteer Anna performs lyrical string puppet shows, raucous slapstick Pulcinella shows, interactive walkabout characters and mobile puppet shows. Her performances are enjoyed by all ages from preschoolers to adults. Anna will be performing one of the following shows:

Pulcinella Comes To New Zealand (suggested audience: age 7 and up)
In an epic pizza delivery, Pulcinella fights a man-eating sheep and combats death in order to return to his lady love, Teresina.

Pasta Arrabiata (suggested audience: family)
Edmond Snail has arrived with his world travelling suitcase kitchen to prepare his specialty - Spaghetti Bolognaise. However, when measurements go awry Edmond ends up cooking up something very strange indeed.

The Mermaid’s Song (suggested audience: family)
A whimsical adventure for the whole family emerges from a well-travelled suitcase and a fishing trip takes a magical turn when the lonely fisherman reels in a mermaid.

Pulcinella and the Birthday Cake (suggested audience: 5+ years)
It’s Fred’s Birthday and Pulcinella is bringing him a cake. On the way he encounters Death. Death has never had a birthday before...
