Swamp Thing take on the West Coast for Auckland Matariki Festival Season.

Legendary Blues rock powerhouse duo Swamp Thing return to the west coast for a one night only concert at Piha Surf Life Saving Club on Saturday, June 17th.

As part of the Auckland Matariki Festival 2017, the concert is a welcome opportunity to host this exceptional band and bring them to the West Coast.

Swamp Thing’s energetic live performances are re-known - playing every show like it was their last, making a sound that reaches far back into the musical DNA of roots music, their profile recently went through the roof after a performance at the 2017 WOMAD Festival.

Formed by former John Butler Trio drummer Michael Barker in 2010, with fellow Kiwi Grant Haua on vocals and guitar, the two man Blues/Roots explosion and ability to entertain and captivate an audience is a testament to the dedication and passion Barker and Haua have for their music.
Haua's unique vocal sound is deep and gravelly in timbre and has earned high praise from his contemporaries, his guitar style on both electric and acoustic exudes passion for the blues.

Barker's multi-tasking instrumental skills lay a solid foundation and full sound that drives Swamp Thing through soundscapes from brooding tension to high energy dance-inspiring grooves.

They have captivated audiences around New Zealand & the globe - tickets are guaranteed to go very fast for this welcome winter one-night extravaganza with support from Damn Native
