It is easy to get caught up in the inherent risk of improv and forget that the risk is to maximise our creative potential, not to put ourselves or other improvisers in harm's way. This workshop explores what it means to take care of yourself, your scene partner, and of the audience in the face of physical risks, nervous or destructive scene partners, or scenes and stories that get away from us. Through scene work, role playing, and group discussion we will make discoveries and share techniques to handle things in the moment and to follow up afterward.

Jennifer O'Sullivan (Spirit of the Fringe 2014, NZ Fringe) is a Wellington performer and producer with a long history of making things up as she goes along. As an improv teacher, she has travelled nationally and internationally, helping improvisers become fearless and work naturally on stage. As a performer, she has been in countless shows (mostly improvised) with many different companies, including the award, winning Awkward Threesome (Tastiest Show NZ Fringe 2016) and much more. She has participated in every Nelson Fringe so far and is delighted to be part of the festivities once more.
