What Is the Show?
You (the audience) are invited to prepare a five-minute, true story (told without notes), about romance gone awry. Stories of failed dates, long relationships coming to an end, and misguided affections.

Inspired by the internationally acclaimed storytelling show The Moth, Tall Poppies is an opportunity for folks from all walks of life to craft and share a personal, five-minute gem.

Do You Have to Tell a Story?
No, most of the audience will just watch. But seven names will be drawn to share their stories and anyone who might want to tell a story is strongly encouraged to prepare one and give it a go!

Is There a Prize?
Yes! There is a prize. There will be teams of judges selected from the audience at the start of the show. Each story will be scored (figure skating style) and by the end of the night, there will be a winner who receives $50 and a chance to compete in a Grand Slam competition.

This week’s theme is: The time I met "The One" (almost)

Online dating, school crushes, workplace romances, travel trysts, and any experiences in which cupid's arrow did more of a maiming than a wooing.

How Do I Prepare a Story? Good Question! Here is some advice to get started:

- Use the broad theme of the evening to inspire memories of personal, life-changing experiences. Choose one of you most memorable and share the moments leading up to and after the experience.
- Humor is always welcome, but don’t feel obligated to be funny. True voices on stage are just as powerful as humor.
- Try writing it down to get it down to five minutes and to pinpoint the most crucial moments you want to include.

Can I Workshop My Story Before Hand?

Yes! If you would like to workshop your story before the event, don’t hesitate to contact Robin Wachsberger at Robin previously managed The StorySLAM series at The Moth and has been coaching storytellers for five years.
