A comedic character-driven story, This one woman show, written and performed by Loren Mason, follows a small town as they try to solve the case of the missing gumboots. It’s a joyful comedy of a small town with a big personality.

The Bright Lights of Taihape follows a close-knit community in the lead up to the annual gumboot throwing competition. The newly appointed Mayor is going full throttle to make it the best year yet, and local farmers are running daily training sessions to keep their gumboot throwing some of the furthest in the country.

Everything is going well until one night, a suspicious act brings the competition and the whole town to a standstill. All of the gumboots in the town go missing. What ensues is a comedic and mysterious journey finding the Taihape gumboot thief. Is it that bloody Dougal boy who is known for stealing gas from local farms? The Mayor's toffee nosed daughter who is home from boarding school? Or could it be something much more sinister and far beyond any human understanding?
