A series of four lectures exploring the theme: Pre-election thinking - hopes and possibilities. The first lecture on July 9 (Freshwater - how clean do we want it?) will be given by spokesperson for Choose Clean Water Marnie Prickett on what freshwater standards we should aspire to; the second on July 23 (Has education lost its way?) will be by Drs Deborah Stevens and Lynne Bowyer from the Centre for Science and Citizenship on education and whether it is nurturing the right values among young people;

The third on August 6 (What hope is there for peace?) by international humanitarian law adviser for the New Zealand Red Cross on the elimination of nuclear weapons and the struggle for peace; and the last on August 20 (The digital tooth-fairy and the importance of public service media) by senior lecturer in media studies at Victoria University on how to protect and encourage high quality public service media.
