After a two-year hiatus, Fri 06th of January 2017 will see the long-awaited return of the ever popular Aaron Carpenter and Shayn Wills to Solar Cafe.

If you’ve been waiting all year for your chance to get out and have a good old dance this is the perfect opportunity. Wills and Carpenter are both master exponents of playing guitar, harmonica on a 'rack' and singing at the same time! This will be of the best nights of live blues all year. From Contemporary to traditional, and from standards to originals this show has something for everyone!

These boys are the top of their field. They are well established sought after and stand out players in the Wellington, Auckland, New Zealand and indeed international music scenes.

So get along to Solar Cafe to see four of NZ’s finest exponents of the blues plying their trade at the ultimate blues show.

Shayn Wills:
Albert King, Junior Wells, Robert Cray, John Hammond Jnr, Canned Heat, Duke Robilard. These names form the basis of the Blues as we know it today. To play support for one of these musicians could be a musician’s career highlight, but to have played support for all of them, you have to agree that musician would be of world class standard. Well, between 1992 and 2005 Shayn Wills played support for each one of these legendary innovative musicians.

Watching Wills play it becomes glaringly obvious he is something special. For starters, his ability to play harmonica, guitar and sing at once is astounding and entertaining. His complex guitar rhythms, innovative harmonica riffs and melodic voice make him a must see act. Julie Oakley, a reviewer for the national music magazine ‘Real Groove’ is quoted to say, “Wills is one of the original black Mississippi Blues legends, reincarnated and living in Auckland, (New Zealand)”.

Aaron Carpenter:
Aaron has been playing since his early teens and has toured around Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Aaron Carpenter’s explosive right-hand rhythm style together with the harmonica and vocals make him in his own right a one-man-band.

He claims influences of Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Rory Gallagher - it is easy to hear them blurring into his own songs and the songs he chooses to cover, making them his own. He often lends songs a bluesy feel that has the audience cutting up the dance floor.
