Trapping for all ages!

An event organised by Picton Dawn Chorus and Conservation Kids New Zealand as part of Conservation Week 2017.

Picton Dawn Chorus are working hard to make Picton predator free. We need an ever-growing team of volunteers to check traps on a roster basis. Doing a trap line is a great family activity. It’s like a treasure hunt – and the treasure is a dead rat. No! Not really! The treasure is being out in the fabulous New Zealand bush and seeing and hearing our native wildlife. So, why not come along on the morning of Saturday 14th October to find out what it is all about.

Families need to register so that you can be allocated an appropriate track to suit the age(s) of your child(ren). You will be teamed up with one of our regular volunteers to check a trap line and learn all about trapping. Places are limited so you must register for this part of the event. You will be allocated a starting time (around 9:30am) and a starting location based upon the track that you are checking.

Afterwards (11am) we will all meet at the new EnviroHub at 3 Auckland Street for a Conservation Kids NZ “Pest Special”. There will be the usual conservation focused fun and games. All families are welcome to join us, there is no need to register for this part of the morning.

Contact Siobain on to register before 7th October.
