The iconic and forward-thinking Auckland parish, St Mathew-in-the-City, will offer wine lovers an evening of ‘communion with a twist’. They have partnered with the Auckland Chamber of Commerce to bring celebrated author and scholar, Dr Gisela Kreglinger, to Auckland for a delectable evening of wine tasting, food and soulful discussion.

Dr Kreglinger, a renowned speaker, theologian and winemaker, will talk about the holistic and theological significance of wine - as it was in the beginning.

The discussion will be accompanied by a tasting of organic New Zealand wines selected by Nick Harrison, wine expert and owner of Ponsonby’s Golden Dawn - Tavern of Power.

Dr. Gisela Kreglinger grew up on a winery in Franconia, Germany - her family a long line of winemakers dating back to the 15th century. She holds a PhD in historical theology from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland, is the author of The Spirituality of Wine, and travels the world giving presentations and hosting gatherings for discussions.

In a unique blend of talk and tasting, participants will be reminded how wine, feasting, passion and joy are inextricably linked.

During her visit to New Zealand, Gisela will also be hosting events and workshops in Queenstown, Dunedin, Wellington, Martinborough and Waiheke Island.

The St Matthew-in-the-City event is sponsored by Wine-Searcher, Jacobi Consulting Ltd and Hesketh Henry.
