This is a two day Yoshinkan Aikido seminar with a visiting sensei from the UK. Aikidoka of all styles and schools are very welcome to come and experience this rare form of the art.

Aikido is a Japanese martial art which is often translated as ‘The Way of unifying with life’s energy’ or as ‘The Way of harmony’. Aikido techniques are applied by using your own power in harmony with your attacker’s power. Yoshinkan is an early style of aikido developed by Gozo Shioda before WWII. It has a unique training method which begins with a very specific posture we call kamae. Using this, we build sequences of basic movements which form the bases of our techniques, making them strong and effective. It is the aikido of choice for the Japanese Riot police.

Sensei Yates (7th dan) is head of UK Yoshinkan and is highly regarded among the top Aikidoka in the world. His teaching focuses on the practical and technical aspects of aikido, from its all-important basic structures and movements to its most subtle aspects. His classes provide clear instruction for the improvement of the aikido of every individual participant. This opportunity is not to be missed for any serious Aikidoka.

Aikido is life!
