Whether you’re a newbie to the scene or have had experience in the acting world, if you’re thinking of taking a serious leap onto the theatre stage, then these classes offer an introduction to some of the necessary tools that will assist you.

The classes will involve movement and voice, scene work, collaboration and connection, unpacking text, and exploring different techniques to inhabiting a character…and it’s all fun! Take that leap of faith. See you in class.

Tutor Bio: Anapela Polataivao, an award-winning director and actor in theatre and film, is the new Director of Performing Arts and tutor for youth and new adult drama classes at Nathan Homestead.

After graduating from Toi Whakaari - New Zealand Drama School, she captained South Auckland’s theatre company, Kila Kokonut Krew (KKK) for 14 years with her partner, Vela Manusaute. In 2013, KKK’s acclaimed musical, The Factory debuted in the Auckland Arts Festival before touring in Australia and the Edinburgh Festival.

She is a New Generation Arts Award recipient and former esteemed acting tutor at the Pacific Institute of Performing Arts (PIPA). Samoan born, South Auckland raised, Anapela currently lives in Manurewa with her whole aiga.
