Nominations for the Upper Hutt City Young Achievers Awards are set to open! There are some wonderful new categories and grants up for grabs so nominate all the wonderful young people you know, achieving great things no matter how big or small for themselves and their community.

Online nominations will be accepted from 1 March 2018. Please check back here on 1st March for a link to the online nomination form:

Categories for 2018 are:

Sports Award
Celebrating a sportsperson with outstanding talent in their chosen field of sport who upholds a positive and respectful attitude. Winner receives $500 grant*.

Capital Training Resilience Award
Celebrating an inspiring person who has overcome personal challenges. Winner receives $500 grant, kindly sponsored by Capital Training*.

Leadership Award
Celebrating a local leader who has made a significant contribution to the community. Winner receives $500 grant*.

Expressions Whirinaki Arts Award
Celebrating a person who demonstrates excellence and passion in the arts. This category incorporates all aspects of the arts. Winner receives $1500 grant, sponsored by Expressions Whirinaki Arts and Entertainment Centre.

Youthtown Manaakitanga Award
Celebrating a person who demonstrates kindness, caring and compassion towards others – ‘Not all hero’s wear capes’. Winner receives a place on the Youthtown Winter Snow Camp, kindly sponsored by Youthtown.

Kaitiaki Award
Celebrating a local leader in environmental protection. Winner receives $500 grant towards their environmental project or event.

Mayoral Award
Celebrating a person chosen by the Mayor. Winner receives $500 grant, courtesy of the Mayor.
