You are warmly invited to an afternoon of Christmas crafting!

Join Hilary Jean Tapper (doll maker), Kuva Zakheim (print maker) and Simone Bensdorp (felt maker) to learn traditional crafts and make your own Christmas gifts. Over the course of an afternoon you will make your own handmade Christmas doll, a mini felt Christmas stocking and block printed wrapping paper.

Experience a medley of traditional craft skills in creating your own Christmas Elf or Angel doll as you screen-print the outline of the doll onto calico cotton, then block-print in the colours using hand-carved blocks.

You will sew your doll using hand-crank and foot-treadle vintage sewing machines (We'll show you how and its a lot of fun!). You'll finish by stuffing your doll with wool and hand-stitching close the bottom seam. No prior experience is necessary, this workshop is intended to provide you with new exciting crafting skills!

You will then learn how to make a felt Christmas stocking using merino wool and wet felting techniques. These mini stockings are perfect for hanging on the tree or filling with small (but precious!) gifts for your loved ones. You will leave with your own handmade stocking and the skills to keep on felting at home.

All materials to make your dolls, stockings and wrapping paper will be provided. Please bring one towel for felt making. Afternoon tea nibbles will be provided and drinks will be available from the cafe.

This workshop is suitable for all ages 12+. We will be using all-natural materials and non-toxic eco-friendly printing dyes.
