Learn the foundations of Power Vinyasa Yoga in a safe, supportive, and fun environment.

This workshop is ideal for those who find the thought of rocking up to a studio based beginners yoga class is a bit intimidating. You may not have ever stepped foot on a yoga mat, or you may have been out of action for a while, or are recovering from injury. In any case, these workshop style classes give every student the opportunity to adapt the practice to suit their individual body and needs.

Our small studio at Peka Peka beach has a maximum capacity of 10 x students, so please ensure you don't delay in registering for this workshop.

What Is Power Vinyasa Yoga?
Power Yoga was developed by Beryl Bender Birch in the 1980s for the New York Road Runners Club. It is a modern, flowing style of yoga, where breath is linked to movement. The 'vinyasa' style of yoga incorporates Sun Salutations, standing strength, balance, core, twists, and inversions. The last half hour of each class is a calm, floor based practice.

Each student will learn the foundations of a 90 minute Power Vinyasa Yoga sequence. This is, eventually, a strong, flowing set of sequenced movements.

Students will learn alignment for asana (poses) in a slow, safe manner. The nature of a workshop means that we stop and start during class in order to ensure that every student finds their way. It is a non-competitive environment which encourages students to ask questions when they need to so that every student benefits from the answers.

It can feel a bit intimidating for some to attend their first yoga class, but the Our Yoga Kapiti classes are incredibly welcoming and safe for people to get outside their comfort zones. Some Our Yoga students have shared that they were terrified before attending their very first class of the ten week Absolute Beginners workshop. They reported, however, that they quickly realised the style of the workshops was perfect for them to give yoga a try and see if they liked it.

How to register:
Click "Buy Tickets" above which will take you to the Our Yoga website where you can register for the first class on 30th January 2018 at 9:30am. By registering for this class, you are agreeing to attend as many of the 10 x workshop classes as you can during that term. Each class builds on the previous, so it's really important (for you) that you commit to attend each class.

Upon registration, you will receive an email with payment information. Payment must be made at the time of registration please. See "Ticket Information" above for the early bird discount cut off date.

Prior to the workshop beginning at the end of January, all registered students will receive an email with information about the workshop - how to find us, what to wear, what to expect.

Refund policy: Cancellations up to 15 January 2018 will receive a 50 percent refund.
