An early Auckland mystery is brought to life!
The Grand Hotel in Princes Street was one of the leading hotels in the city when it burnt to the ground in 1901. A sensation at the time, the fire took place on the eve of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall’s royal tour of New Zealand.
Christine Day Beardon brings to life the mystery surrounding the fire. She presents a dramatised reconstruction of events read by Waiheke actors in period costume. Supported by Civic Trust Auckland and Auckland Council Creative Communities.
Produced by Grow Your Own Productions. There will be one reading in Auckland Central at the Ellen Melville Centre and two readings on Waiheke Island at Artworks Theatre.
